Nightlife3

Small but lively for its size. District Table and Bar, The Pearl cocktail bar and the dockside grills keep the Pocket busy on weekends, often with live music. It is a dock bar crowd, not a club scene.

Meet people3

Easy if you spend time on the water. Boaters, anglers and the artists in the Fish House district all know each other, and evening ghost tours and gallery events bring people out.

Peace and quiet3

Mostly calm, with a busy few blocks on weekend nights and boat traffic in the morning. The streets back from the water are quiet.

Walkability3

The waterfront core is walkable, with a boardwalk along the Pocket and several restaurants within a few blocks of each other. For groceries and errands you drive to Federal Highway.

On the water5

The best part. The Manatee Pocket is a protected harbor right by the St. Lucie Inlet, with marinas, a public boat ramp, charter boats and sailing trips. The ocean is a few minutes out.

Beaches2

No beach in the village. Bathtub Beach and Stuart Beach are about 15 to 20 minutes by car, or closer by boat to the inlet beaches.

Dining and arts3

Fresh catch, dockside grills and a few nicer spots around the Pocket. It is casual seafood more than fine dining, and downtown Stuart is ten minutes north for more.

Outdoors and wellness4

St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park is a short boat or paddle ride away, with a boardwalk across to a wild ocean beach. The county paddle trail and riverside parks are right here.

Affordability3

One of the more approachable ways onto the water in Martin County, with a recent median under $400K. Waterfront homes and anything with a dock cost much more, and insurance matters.

Airport access3

Palm Beach is about 40 minutes south. Orlando is about two hours, and nearby airports have only limited service.
