Very quiet after dark. Apart from show nights at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, an evening out is dinner at a resort or in Sawgrass Village and home early. For bars and late music you drive about 20 minutes north to Jacksonville Beach.

Plenty of organized ways to join in. About 900 volunteers work with the GTM Research Reserve, The Players signs up volunteers for tournament week every March, and First Coast Cultural Center in Sawgrass Village runs art classes, lectures and exhibitions.

Quiet most of the year, with light traffic on Ponte Vedra Boulevard and dark, calm nights. The exception is The Players in March, when tournament crowds fill the roads around TPC Sawgrass for a week.

This is a driving town. Homes, golf courses and shops are spread out along A1A and Ponte Vedra Boulevard, and the main cluster of shops and restaurants is Sawgrass Village. Plan on a car for nearly every errand.

The Intracoastal runs along the west side, where the county keeps a free ramp with a floating dock at Palm Valley and a kayak launch at Palm Valley West. There is no ocean inlet nearby, so offshore trips start from Mayport or St. Augustine.

Tall dunes and a long, uncrowded shore. Public access is limited, though. Mickler's Landing is the main spot, with about 200 parking spaces, restrooms and summer lifeguards, and a few more lots sit farther south along the GTM reserve.

Resort dining rooms and the restaurants at Sawgrass Village cover most nights out. The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall reopened in August 2025 after a $12.9 million renovation, and First Coast Cultural Center hangs rotating art exhibitions.

The GTM Research Reserve protects more than 76,000 acres along this coast, with trails, fishing and a visitor center on Guana River Road. Closer in, Bird Island Park has a boardwalk through native plantings, and golf is everywhere.
