Nightlife2
The BayCare Sound at Coachman Park is a 4,000 seat waterfront amphitheater with touring acts, and the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre on Cleveland Street books shows too. For a late night you cross the causeway to the beach bars.
Meet people3
The Market Marie sets up at Coachman Park on second Saturdays. The city runs adult softball and kickball leagues, plus shuffleboard, horseshoes and table tennis clubs, and the Threshers play at BayCare Ballpark.
Peace and quiet2
It's a real city with real traffic. Beach traffic funnels through downtown onto the Memorial Causeway and is heaviest on weekends and in spring. Streets away from the main roads are calmer.
Walkability3
Downtown is walkable in a small way. Coachman Park, Cleveland Street, the harbor marina and the ferry dock sit within a few blocks, and the Pinellas Trail passes through. Most other errands need a car.
On the water4
Clearwater Harbor Marina sits downtown beside Coachman Park, and the Clearwater Ferry runs Thursday through Sunday to the beach and Dunedin. Clearwater Pass and the Gulf are a short run across the harbor.
Beaches3
No sand in town itself. Clearwater Beach, ranked second in the country by Tripadvisor for 2026, is about two miles over the Memorial Causeway by car, bike or ferry.
Dining and arts3
Ruth Eckerd Hall and the 1921 Capitol Theatre bring in touring acts, and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday fills Coachman Park each October. Cleveland Street's restaurant row is still filling in, with new spots since 2025.
Outdoors and wellness3
Coachman Park gives downtown a big green lawn on the bluff above the harbor. Moccasin Lake Nature Park has 54 acres of shaded trails and boardwalks, and the Pinellas Trail runs north and south through town.
Affordability3
Homes on the mainland cost a good deal less than on the barrier islands next door, with plenty of choice inland. Near the water, check flood zones, since insurance swings a lot from street to street.
Airport access5
About as easy as it gets. St. Pete Clearwater (PIE) is around 15 to 20 minutes away and Tampa (TPA) about 30, depending on which side of the city you start from.
