The Best Florida Beach Towns for Top Rated Beaches (2026)

The beaches on this year's Dr. Beach and Tripadvisor lists, and what it's like to live in the towns next to them.

The Florida beach towns with the best rated beaches right now are Clearwater Beach, Panama City Beach and Siesta Key. Tripadvisor's 2026 Travelers' Choice awards ranked Clearwater Beach second and Siesta Beach sixth in the country, and Dr. Beach put St. Andrews State Park in Panama City Beach second on his 2026 list.

Of the 167 towns we score, 34 carry our Best Beaches vibe. We ranked them on our beach score, then checked each town against the two lists people quote most: Dr. Beach's annual top ten and Tripadvisor's Best of the Best Beaches for 2026.

1. Clearwater Beach

Tripadvisor's 2026 awards ranked it the second best beach in the United States and 17th in the world. The sand is wide, soft and white, Beach Walk runs along it to Pier 60, and the free sunset celebration with street performers happens there every evening, weather permitting. Sand Key Park adds 95 acres over the pass, and Caladesi Island, third on Dr. Beach's 2026 list, is a short trip north. The catch: this is one of the busiest beaches in Florida, the causeway backs up on sunny weekends, and condos come with flood insurance and association fees. See Clearwater Beach.

2. Panama City Beach

St. Andrews State Park landed on both lists this year: second on Dr. Beach's 2026 top ten and eighth on Tripadvisor's. It has jetties to snorkel and a shuttle to undeveloped Shell Island, and town has two long Gulf piers. The catch: spring and summer bring heavy traffic and a full events calendar, and condo fees plus wind and flood insurance run high. See Panama City Beach.

3. Siesta Key

Siesta Beach was Tripadvisor's number one beach in America in 2025, sixth in 2026, and it ranked 28th on the World's 50 Best Beaches list for 2026, the only US beach on it. The sand is almost pure quartz and stays cool underfoot, and the Sunday drum circle has met on the beach about an hour before sunset since 1996. The catch: the lot fills early, both bridges back up in winter and spring, and homes run about $809K (fall 2026). See Siesta Key.

4. Naples

Delnor Wiggins Pass State Park, just north of town, ranked sixth on Dr. Beach's 2026 list. Downtown has beach access at the end of nearly every avenue, Clam Pass has a mangrove boardwalk with a free tram, and Vanderbilt Beach has its own garage. The catch: public beach parking is limited, the Naples Pier is closed for a rebuild expected to finish around mid 2027, and Ian pushed surge into town in 2022. See Naples.

5. St. George Island

Dr. Beach named the state park here the number one beach in America in 2023. That's nine miles of undeveloped sand at the east end of an island with no high rises, where the county caps buildings at 47 feet and the lighthouse holds a sunset climb every month. The catch: about $1.1M for the island's zip code (Redfin, three months ending Aug 2026), one bridge on and off, and Tallahassee's airport is an hour and 40 minutes away. See St. George Island.

6. 30A (Santa Rosa Beach)

Grayton Beach State Park was Dr. Beach's number one in 2020, and it is one stop on 26 miles of sugar white sand. Fifteen coastal dune lakes sit behind the beach for paddling, and the 18.5 mile Timpoochee Trail links Seaside, Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach by bike. The catch: about $915K median across Santa Rosa Beach (Redfin, Aug 2026), and the two lane road crawls in spring and summer. Destin vs 30A compares the two. See 30A.

7. St. Pete Beach

Miles of wide white sand run from Upham Beach Park at the north end past the pink Don CeSar to the old fishing village at the southern tip, where you park right along the sand. Fort De Soto Park is just down the Bayway, and Corey Avenue has a Sunday market all year. The catch: Helene hit the island in 2024, homes run about $606K (fall 2026), and flood insurance is a real line in the budget. See St. Pete Beach.

8. Destin

Sugar white sand and clear green water, the look the Emerald Coast is named for. Henderson Beach State Park has 30 foot dunes with no buildings behind them, though day visits there have needed an advance reservation since May 2026. The catch: US 98 is the one road through town and it backs up from spring break through summer, and homes run about $540K (fall 2026). See Destin.

9. Juno Beach

A wide, natural beach backed by dunes and one of the busiest sea turtle nesting beaches in the country, so it stays wild. The 990 foot pier is the fishing hub, Loggerhead Marinelife Center runs turtle walks in season, and Palm Beach International is about 25 minutes away. The catch: few restaurants in town, about $831K typical value (Zillow, Sept 2026) and oceanfront condo assessments to plan for. See Juno Beach.

10. Crescent Beach

South of St. Augustine Beach, the sand is wide, flat and hard packed, and you can still drive onto it at the Crescent Beach ramp. Behind you is the Matanzas River for kayaking, and a free ferry crosses to Fort Matanzas. At about $440K (Redfin, June 2026) it's the lowest price on this list. The catch: there's little to walk to, and Jacksonville's airport is about an hour and ten minutes away. See Crescent Beach.

Also on the list: Dunedin is the town next to both Caladesi Island and Honeymoon Island State Park, which Tripadvisor ranked tenth in 2026. Look too at Anna Maria Island, Captiva Island, New Smyrna Beach and Miramar Beach.

Is a famous beach a good place to live?

It's a great place to spend a Saturday. The same awards bring crowds and bridge traffic and push prices up, so many people live a town over. Skip the famous beach town has five pairs to compare.

How are these lists made?

Dr. Beach is Stephen Leatherman, who rates public beaches on 50 criteria. Tripadvisor's awards come from a year of traveler reviews. Neither rates what it's like to live nearby, which is why we pair them with our scores.

What does it cost to live near one of these beaches?

Typical prices on this list run from about $440K in Crescent Beach to about $1.1M on St. George Island. Nearly all of it sits on barrier islands, so add wind and flood insurance and condo fees to the math. Our insurance guide covers what to ask, and the hurricane guide has the checklist.
