The best Florida beach towns for remote work are Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. Each one puts a real airport 15 to 35 minutes from home, has coworking desks downtown, and gives you a waterfront to walk, a show to see or a run club to join the minute the laptop closes.
Of the 167 towns we score, 17 carry our Remote Work vibe. We ranked them on airport access, how easy it is to meet people and dining and arts, because those three decide whether working from the coast feels like paradise or like being stranded.

1. Tampa
Tampa International (TPA) is about 15 minutes from downtown and is the busiest airport on Florida's Gulf coast, so a Monday morning flight is no ordeal. Industrious has a coworking location on East Jackson Street downtown, and after work you can run the 2.6 mile Riverwalk, eat at the Armature Works food hall or ride the free streetcar to Ybor City. The catch: there is no Gulf beach in town, so plan on 40 minutes to the sand, and low areas flooded in Helene and Milton in 2024. See Tampa.
2. St. Petersburg
You get two airports, Tampa (TPA) about 25 to 35 minutes across the bay and St. Pete Clearwater (PIE) closer still. Industrious runs a coworking space at 200 Central Avenue, a short walk from the Pier, the Dalí Museum and a long run of cafes and breweries. Evenings mean an open air show at Jannus Live, the Second Saturday ArtWalk or the SunRunner bus out to the Gulf for sunset. The catch: prices are up about 7 percent in a year, to a median near $430K (Redfin, summer 2026), and low lying neighborhoods carry real flood insurance costs. See St. Petersburg.
3. Sarasota
Sarasota Bradenton (SRQ) is about 15 minutes from downtown. The Regus at 1990 Main Street sells coworking day passes, so you can work downtown a few days a week without signing a lease. After work, the 99 Bottles Run Club meets Wednesdays at 6pm, The Bay park hosts free classes, and Lido Beach is about ten minutes over the Ringling Bridge. The catch: US 41 and the bridge back up all winter, and the bayfront took storm surge from Helene and Milton in 2024. See Sarasota.
4. Miami (South Beach)
Miami International (MIA) is about 20 to 25 minutes across the causeway, and this is one of the few places on the coast where you can live without a car. Regus has a coworking space at 1111 Lincoln Road with day passes, right on the pedestrian mall. After work it's the Beachwalk for a sunset run or a free WALLCAST concert at SoundScape Park. The catch: about $600K median (fall 2026), with monthly fees, flood insurance and crowds all year. See South Beach.
5. Fort Lauderdale
FLL is 10 to 15 minutes from downtown and the beach, and Brightline trains run to Miami, West Palm Beach and Orlando from the downtown station. Industrious has a location at 200 East Las Olas Boulevard. After work you can ride the Water Taxi, play open pickleball on the 43 courts at The Fort or take the boat out on 165 miles of inland waterways. The catch: about $605K median (fall 2026), and flood and wind insurance add up fast near the water. See Fort Lauderdale.
6. Delray Beach
About half an hour to the Palm Beach airport and 45 minutes to FLL, with commuter rail and Amtrak stopping west of downtown. Atlantic Avenue runs straight to the ocean, the free Freebee shuttle covers everything from the interstate to the sand, and after work there's live music at Tin Roof every night, a run club on Wednesday nights and an art walk the first Friday of the month. The catch: houses run about $768K median and condos about $210K (BeachesMLS, Sept 2026), and parking on the Avenue is metered. See Delray Beach.
7. Boca Raton
Boca sits between two airports, about 30 to 35 minutes to Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale, and Brightline stops downtown. Mizner Park is the after work spot, with restaurants, the art museum and concerts at the amphitheater, and the Gumbo Limbo boardwalk and the snorkeling at Red Reef Park are a bike ride east. The catch: a median around $630K, and outside downtown the city is built for driving. See Boca Raton.
8. Dunedin
The small town pick. St. Pete Clearwater (PIE) is about 25 minutes away and Tampa (TPA) about 35. You walk to coffee on Main Street, put in your hours, then bike the Pinellas Trail, catch the Wednesday open jam at Dunedin Brewery or cross the Causeway to Honeymoon Island for sunset. The catch: winter is busy, parking fills on festival weekends and homes near the water carry storm surge risk, at a median around $475K. See Dunedin.
9. Key West
Key West's own airport (EYW) is minutes away with six airlines, which matters on an island about four hours by car from Miami. When the work is done you bike to Mallory Square for the Sunset Celebration, run with Southernmost Runners three times a week or race with the Community Sailing Center. The catch: about $1.05M median (Redfin, Aug 2026), high insurance, small lots and a long evacuation route. See Key West.
Also on the list: Clearwater, with two airports close by and the beach a bridge away, quiet Bal Harbour at the top of Miami Beach, and Mexico Beach on the Forgotten Coast if a wide empty beach matters more than a quick flight.
Do you need a coworking space, or will a cafe do?
A cafe and the kitchen table usually do fine. Coworking earns its keep for video calls and company. In the smaller towns, plan on a home office.
How do you meet people when you work from home?
Every town here has something on a weeknight: run clubs, art walks, open jams or pickleball. Pick one and show up every week. Our guide to finding your people has more.
What does it cost to live in one of these towns?
Medians on this list run from about $428K in Sarasota to about $1.05M in Key West. The sale price is only part of it. Property taxes reset when you buy, flood coverage is a separate policy and condo dues are rising, so read the bills nobody puts on the listing before you compare.
What about hurricanes and insurance?
Most of these towns sit on or near the water, and several flooded in 2024. Get a real insurance quote for the exact address before you fall for a place. Our insurance guide covers what to ask, and the hurricane guide has the checklist.
